Owned and operated by Joe, and based in the south-east of South Australia, Lion & Anchor brings together a lifelong appreciation for history, craftsmanship and collecting.

With a family history spanning generations in the antiques trade, I grew up surrounded by fascinating pieces and the stories behind them. My parents are antique dealers, and my grandfather was a watchmaker, giving me an early appreciation for quality, authenticity and items that stand the test of time.

Today, Lion & Anchor brings together two passions: coins and jewellery.

Our numismatic collection includes Australian pre-decimal and decimal currency, commemorative releases, proof and uncirculated sets, graded coins and precious metals. We take pride in sourcing interesting and collectable pieces, whether for experienced numismatists or those just beginning their collecting journey.

Equally important is our carefully curated selection of antique and vintage jewellery. From timeless gold and silver pieces to beautifully crafted jewellery with unique character and history, each item is individually selected for its quality, craftsmanship and appeal.

Alongside our online store, we host regular live auctions on Whatnot, bringing together a growing community of collectors and jewellery enthusiasts. These live events offer an engaging and interactive way to discover new pieces, connect with fellow collectors and enjoy the excitement of an auction.

The Story Behind Our Name

The name Lion & Anchor was inspired by a deep appreciation for English hallmarked silver. The lion passant represents sterling silver, while the anchor is Birmingham's historic assay mark. Together, these symbols reflect the values at the heart of our business: authenticity, tradition, quality and craftsmanship.
